Bunions can be a result of prolonged pressure on the foot caused by narrow-toed, high-heeled shoes. Such shoes compress the big toe and push it toward the second toe. The condition may become painful as extra bone and a fluid-filled bursa grow where the base of the great toe meets the foot and the overlying skin.

  • Reddened skin over the base of the big toe. Pain over the joint where the big toe joins the foot (metatarsophalangeal joint), aggravated by pressure from shoes.
    Possible modality:
  • Functional custom made orthotics (if over pronation is present)
  • Medial Heel Wedges
